Visiting the beaches in the Charleston, SC Area

There are three public beaches in easy driving distance of Charleston, SC.

They are Folly, Isle of Palms, andSullivan's Island.

All three have magnificent sceneryand you may want to take a camera when visiting. Folly is located about 11 miles from the city. This one is a calm and beautiful part of the Atlantic ocean. It is laid back and where you may want to just go and relax.

It isn't very commercialized, the only hotel we found was a Holiday Inn.

Folly offers legendary history, fishing, surfing, although we didn't see anyone surfing, and an extremely long pier.

We really enjoyed a day there walking in the sand and listening to the waves.

Sullivan Island is located about nine and half miles from the historic downtown. This natural area is residential and no commercialization.

It is a great place to spend the day relaxing in the sun while the kids play in the sand. You might even find yourself building a sand castle or two. The inviting and clear waters, offers swimming like swimming in a swimming pool. It is three miles long and we found many pathways to walk to the shore.

The Isle of Palms is located about thirteen and half miles from the town.

During 1898 guests could only gain access to the land by water or a railroad bridge. It has come along way from being "just water and sand" to being one of the most beautiful areas around.

The white-sand and water had luxurious beachfront homes and lots of activity. Families were playing games and seem to be just enjoying themselves.

There are restaurants within walking distance and with our hungry crowd that was a great perk.

You can park at the Park and Recreation Commission lot for only $5.00.

These are all great beaches to visit for some daytime or nighttime fun. Sit quitely at night and just take in the beauty of nature with yourloved ones, or go during the day when other people are there, communicate and have fun with your family.
